mini-grant
initiatives
Past mini-grants recipients Since 1995, PEF has awarded PRS teachers over $125,000 in
mini-grants for more than 150 creative educational projects in all
six Princeton Regional Schools. Teacher mini-grants are small
grants, ranging from several hundred to a thousand dollars which allow teachers
to bring innovative ideas to life in the classroom.

Recent mini-grants have supported the following innovative
initiatives:
• Literacy programs in multiple areas, including: an early
intervention program for kindergarteners, a listening center for
struggling readers and a summer outreach program using a bookmobile
• A TV station at an elementary school
• Music Composers Club for K-5th graders
• A journalism program for elementary students
• A Lego engineering program for elementary students
• Author-in-residency and Peer to Peer counseling programs at JWMS
• Resources to explore multi-cultural literature and international
films at PHS
• New chemistry education tools at PHS

• Date rape prevention workshop at PHS
Many mini-grant programs are replicated across the district, or
become continuing programs in the schools. Programs such as
Leadership Among Multicultural People (LAMP), Passion Latina
multicultural dance troupe at PHS, and K-5 breakfast book clubs and
Community Gardens received seed money in their early years.
