We believe education matters!
Since 1995, the Princeton Education Foundation (PEF) has been a
bridge between our community and our public schools—encouraging
private philanthropy to enhance public education for students at all
levels.
Our mission is
to support excellence in education in the Princeton Regional
Schools. Since its inception, PEF has contributed over $500,000 to
the Princeton Regional Schools for capital improvements, educational
programs and teacher support.
Some
Highlights:
·
The Take A Seat Campaign
provided $230,000 for a choral shell, orchestra pit cover and
acoustic enhancements for the Princeton Performing Arts Center at
Princeton High School. It will be used by all PRS students and the
entire Princeton Community.
o
Phase II of TAS will support our
mission and fund initiatives in all K-12 schools.
·
Mini-grants
have provided more than $125,000 to PRS teachers for more than 150
innovative educational projects. Programs such as LAMP for
multicultural students, Pasion Latina multi cultural dance troupe at
PHS, and in the K-5 breakfast book clubs and the
Community garden programs received seed money,
·
The Fitness Campaign has provided
fitness equipment worth over $50,000 to the new PHS Fitness
Center, and granted $25,000 for teacher training, after-school and
summer programs to promote health and fitness lifestyle education
for JWMS & PHS students.
·
Shop Smart, a joint program with the Princeton Borough
Merchants Association and select Princeton township merchants, raised
nearly $3,000 for science equipment.
·
A Mathematician in Residence
brought an inspirational educator to JWMS in 2005-2006 so that all
math, special education, and basic skills teachers could learn new
techniques for teaching mathematics.
·
The
Music After School Program
provided instrumental music instruction to elementary school
students in 2005 and 2006, enabling all children to have equal
access to music enrichment. This popular program served 140 students
during its second year!
·
A Construction
Lab at PHS will provide
opportunities for pre-vocational and hands-on learning, thanks to a
gift of $26,000 from PEF to purchase furniture and tools
·
Star Lab,
purchased with help from PEF in 2001-2, continues to provide
experiential learning about astronomy and the solar system for all
elementary students.
·
The AP
Economics program
at Princeton High school, initially funded through PEF by a private
donor, has successfully continued and expanded since its inception.
The schools need your support now more than ever!
State aid to schools has been reduced, budget caps have been
implemented, and many costs are rising faster than the budget caps
allow. Your contributions to PEF allow capital improvements and
innovative educational programming to continue in our schools.
